Denise Guerra, Compensation Manager, The Friedkin Group
Denise Guerra is the Compensation Manager at The Friedkin Group, a privately-held consortium of businesses and investments and affiliated with one of the world’s largest independent Toyota distributors. In her role, she manages all aspects of Compensation, and meets with leadership to ensure the compensation programs implemented are aligned with the business and strategic initiatives. In this role she is responsible for compensation program development, implementation, and administration for over 3,000 salaried and hourly employees. Her responsibilities also include compensation strategy development for executive and incentive compensation. Denise brings over 20 years of experience in human resources having worked across multiple industries – financial services, healthcare, chemical, automotive, and oil & gas. Denise holds a BBA from the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University and holds the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certification. She has served on the Houston Compensation & Benefits Association Board for the last three years, and enjoys creating connections with Total Rewards professionals and keeping up with the latest compensation and benefits trends.
Ashley Kobelan, Compensation Manager, Berry Appleman & Leiden
Ashley Kobelan is the Compensation Manager at Berry Appleman & Leiden, a global firm singularly focused on meeting the immigration challenges of corporate clients around the world in ways that make immigration more strategic and clients more successful. In her role, she manages all aspects of Compensation for over 1,000 employees. Ashley has held various roles in accounting, finance and human resources over the past 12 years, with her last 6 years focusing in Compensation. She is also serving as the President of the Board for the Houston Compensation and Benefits group. Ashley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Texas State University.
Jason Cheney, Director of Compensation and Rewards, Vallen
Jason currently works as the Director of Compensation and Rewards at Vallen. In this role, he is responsible for managing the delivery and execution of key compensation programs including base pay administration, short-term incentive plan design & administration as well as career pathways. Jason has more than 20 years of HR experience working in the Generalist, Talent Acquisition, HRIS and Compensation disciplines. He has previously worked in the Insurance, Telecommunications and Oil & Gas industries and is a graduate of Boston College with a concentration in Finance. Jason and his family currently reside in Spring, TX. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his twin sons, reading a good book, or relaxing and listening to music.
