Mental Health; Strategies for Employers



Marianne Fazen, PhD, President & CEO, Texas Business Group on Health

Marianne Fazen is Executive Director of the Dallas-Fort Worth Business Group on Health, a coalition of 120 DFW area employers and healthcare organizations committed to improving healthcare quality, efficiency, and accountability in North Texas. Ms. Fazen also serves as President and CEO of the Texas Business Group on Health, a statewide organization representing Texas employers’ interests regarding healthcare purchasing and policy issues.

Ms. Fazen is a frequent speaker and commentator on employer-sponsored health benefits issues. She was recognized as a member of the Dallas 500 Business Leaders by D CEO Magazine in 2020 and 2021, and DFW Healthcare Leader by the Dallas Business Journal in Who’s Who in Healthcare in 2016.

Ms. Fazen currently serves on the Board of Directors (Executive Committee) of URAC, a national healthcare accreditation organization. She also serves as Regional Director of the Path Forward for Mental Health & Substance Use national initiative, and on the Board of Directors (Executive Committee) of the North Texas Accountable Healthcare Partnership, a regional multi-stakeholder collaborative initiative focused on health system transformation. Ms. Fazen served 16 years on the Board of Governors, including a term as President, of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, a national organization of 40 purchaser-led healthcare coalitions across the country.

Ms. Fazen has an undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from University of Wisconsin and a Doctorate in Communications Science & Human Development from University of Texas at Dallas.


Lindsey Engelman, MA, MSCRP, Senior Project Manager for Innovation, Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute

Lindsey Engelman is the Sr. Project Manager for Innovation at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. In this role, she works to reduce barriers to care and increase access to effective mental health care through innovative strategic partnerships. Lindsey helps drive the strategy and operations for the Path Forward, which uses a market-driven approach to facilitate major advances in mental healthcare by leveraging the “purchaser” influence of employer coalitions.

Before working with Meadows, Lindsey spent nearly ten years at The University of Texas building meaningful academic-community partnerships to develop a wide variety of programming. She most recently worked as a program manager with The UT Dell Medical School, working with community partners to find ways to improve, develop, and measure the impact of non-medical, community-based programs to impact health. She supported community organizations and healthcare payers in identifying mutual outcomes of interest with the goal of healthcare payers paying for interventions that demonstrate positive results.

She holds a Master of Science in Community and Regional Planning and Master of Arts in Latin American Studies.


Chris Chan, Senior Vice President of Partnerships, DarioHealth

Chris Chan is a Senior Vice President of Partnerships with DarioHealth. He focuses on working with partners and their strategies for managing chronic conditions, and also helps shape Dario’s strategic roadmap to meet new market needs. Previously, Chris was Chief Marketing Officer at SleepQuest and led both the Innovation LAB at Mercer and the Health Imagination team at Willis Towers Watson. His house is filled with mid-century furniture and vintage 80s toys.
